Why?
I uploaded this project to printables in 2022 and it’s got 1000 downloads by now, so I thought I might lose some words about it.
This was designed while working on the Bo 105 fuselage. So I needed some small projects to try free from modelling in Fusion 360. Additionally, while I love my 3D mouse it kept on sliding around on my desk, which led to awkward positions of my ankle. Yes, sure I could have bought the space mouse pro, but that was out of budget.
Versions and print settings
There are two versions available for download, one with a pocket for a small cushion or any soft material. The other one does not offer that cutout.
You can print the insert from a soft material, cut it from fabric, or just use a laser to cut it from leather. In addition to the plus in ergonomics, I think it also looks pretty neat to have contrasting colors. Back then when I built this, I printed it from PETG. Meanwhile, I’ve tested quite a few printing materially and swapped the Prusa i3 MK3S+ for a Bambulab P1S. Today I would print it from PLA+ with 0.08mm layer height and maybe sand it a little to get a smoother surface finish.
User feedback
- does not fit for 3DX-700059
- there is a remix for the wireless version 3DX-600044 (linked below)

Future plans
I would like to verify and (if needed) update the design to fit the current versions of the corded and wireless ones. Therefore I’d be happy to get feedback on what changed in recent versions. So if anyone’s got a 3D model, I would be more than happy to have a look at that.
